It's best not to look at prestige or competitiveness as being better. Of course you can apply to Harvard, yet do realize that there are many students applying to this school. If you're not in the top of your class, don't have excellent board scores, or a track record of community service or extracurriculars, it's very hard to near impossible to gain admission into some of the most competitive universities.
For mentoring purposes, it's recommended you try out a website called GottaMentor www.gottamentor.com and talk to some of the mentors there about premed school, or med school.
If you would like to talk to other high school students applying to college, there are sites like College Confidential www.collegeconfidential.com where you can discuss this with other students. You may even want to talk to a college counselor there about applying to colleges geared towards premed.
When looking at colleges and universities, visit sites like www.stuvu.com, www.theu.com, www.collegeclicktv.com, and hear it from other students. I believe it's important to consider a school that you like the community, the campus, and the school in general than "the program" it offers, as college is mostly what you make of it.

So, for your answer, your research is not about what TOP universities offer premed/medical, it's about finding the school for you, the school that you like.

First, you need to understand that premed is not usually a major at most colleges and very few colleges have what is known as a premed program. I know the college I went to, there were several students who majored in biology, and they considered themselves premed, yet officially there was no major called premed. It's best not to look at prestige or competitiveness as being better. Of course you can apply to Harvard, yet do realize that there are many students applying to this school. For medical school, have you looked at UNMC,University of Nebraska Medical Center? It is a great medical school, it just doesn't have the name recondition of Harvard. As for pre-Med, most biology programs are a good start. I would say have good grades and being involved in student and community activities are more important than what school you go to for pre-med. Also, a lot of schools are looking for non tradition med students. You don't have to have a biology degree to get into med-school. My wife is an occupational therapist and last semester decide she wanted to go to med-school. She found a program at our local university that offered all the prereqs she needed to get into UNMC, it was a scholarship program and she didn't have to pay for the classes.
