It sounds like the decision is going to come down to what you want to do when you graduate.
Stanford= you want to get in to the tech culture
Wharton= you want to be involved in the finance industry
INSEAD= you want to be a world traveler, and get a little life experience.
I, obviously can't make the decision for you, but I totally agree with your assessment. Again, it just comes down to what you want to get out of your time at college.

I have offers from Stanford, Wharton and INSEAD. Where should I go?
I need to make a decicion re bschool fairly quickly and I need some help.
This is my personal assessment. Please let me know if I am missing anything.
Stanford
Pros: Well integrated in Silicon Valley fabric, good ties with
VC/entrepreneurial community, smaller class size, spending 2 years in
California is a dream, amazing global prestige/reputation
Cons: 2 years long (higher opportunity + actual costs), smaller class
size means less alumni
Wharton
Pros: Pre-eminent finance school, very vibrant alumni community (help
each other out a lot), excellent ties with finance/PE community,
amazing global prestige/reputation
Cons: 2 years long (higher opportunity + actual costs), spending 2
years in Philly does not inspire me, I am not necessarily very
interested in finance
INSEAD
Pros: 1 year (lower opportunity + actual costs), opportunity to spend
time in 3 different cities (Fontainebleau, Singapore, Philly),
opportunity to do an exchange term at Wharton, very global alumni
network, rated as most fun, very passionate alumni (every single one
said it was the best year of their life), very high
prestige/reputation in Europe)
Cons: Alumni network is spread too thin across the world, name
recognition in the US is lower with general population

What he said. Stanford is especially great if you want to start a tech company and plan to live in the Bay Area.

Sounds to me like INSEAD offers the broadest experience, if that's what you want; plus it allows you to spend a semester at Wharton. That would get you into some of Wharton's benefits (alumni circle, because you'd hopefully make some friends there) without the cons you mention. Having your cake and eating it, too. Prestige in Europe and here. Sounds the best to me! And here I was going to say Stanford...knee-jerk reaction...
