I make sure that I hook the bra before I wash it. This stops the hook from catching anything. This is something relatively new (2-3 years) that I do and I've noticed a BIG difference in how long my bras last.
There is also a lingerie bag you can buy at Walmart, Target, Family or General Dollar, etc. They look something like this:

There is also a cage I found at Amazon.com which may be more of what you want:

The last thing I can think of is to NEVER NEVER put a bra in the dryer. The elastic in it can't handle the heat.
I was watching a show about how to look good in your clothes and they said that bras don't really last more than 6 months; a statement which made me laugh.
I guess it made me realize though that I am one of those who thinks that a bra should last for years (3-4 or 5) and I assume I'm just expecting too much from them- make sure your wife is not expecting too much them either.
Have fun with the laundry!!

What is the best method for washing bras?
I do most of the laundry in my household. When washing my wife's bras, they frequently become entangled in other garments (shirts, sweatpants, other bras, etc). This often leads to excess wear and sometimes damage to the bras or the other clothes.
Is there a technique or device I should try out to improve this process? I have heard of things like cages for hats to be used in laundry so that the hat does not loose its basic shape. Is there a similar product for bras?

• Thanks for the tip, I got a lingerie bag from walmart to try out. I generally hang dry them, but I am tired of having to unknot them from the other clothes when I am moving things from the washer to the dryer.
