All though both are very talented and were great while in the band with Genesis, I would have to say Phil Collins was the better of the two. He brought a different type of energy to the band.

This is a tough one...

I LOVE PG's sound... and his lyrics. And his concert was one of the best I've ever seen in my life.

Phil Collins is fantastic... and anyone who can drum and sing at the same time just amazes me!

I'm going to go with PG since he was a founding member of Genesis...

I liked the Phil Collins Genesis, so I'm going with Phil as the better singer. He was also a fantastic writer and musician. I never much cared for the old live shows with Peter dancing around in some costume. Think Phil's Genesis was by far the better band, and he was by far the more talented of the two.

Gabriel, Obviously Genesis thought so, since when both were in the band, Gabriel was the lead singer. The music was more interesting in that era, with Gabriel adding some nice instrumental touches on flute, etc.

I do think that the tendency to dismiss Collins-era Genesis as pop trash is way overblown, though. Wind and Wuthering and A Trick Of The Tail had Collins singing lead and were as good as anything Genesis ever did.
