I just love the song "Carry on my wayward son" by Kansas. In your opinion based on the lyrics what is this song all about?

this song is based on the Winward son from the bible. Luke 15:11-32 .
Kansas guitarist Kerry Livgren, wrote this song. and hes really religious.

In my opinion, it is a song about someone traveling through life knowing there is more to it than the lives we lead and he is searching for it ,already knowing he wont find it.
