A worship leader should be inspirational and cause the congregation to feel closer in their walk with God.
A worship leader should not be full of himself/herself and just a performer.
A worship leader should be someone who understands how sin affects lives.
A worship leader should not be someone who judges others for their sins.
A worship leader should be someone who realizes they are one person in a group of many.
A worship leader should not consider themselves the highlight or star of the church.
A worship leader should consider songs to be for the praise of the Lord.
A worship leader should not be someone who is looking for praise for himself/herself.
A worship leader should look to God for what he is supposed to say and do.
A worship leader should not fish for what would be the most popular thing to do or for what would get them the most attention.
A worship leader tries to get everyone singing together and praising God no matter what everyone sounds like.
A worship leader should not try to sing louder than everyone else and point attention to themselves.
A worship leader should serve the church.
A worship leader should not want the church to serve him.

A church should be able to survive if the worship leader is removed. He should be something belonging to the church itself as a component along with many equally important components - song leader, secretary, teachers, etc.
A church should not consider itself the "worship leader's" church, set to crumble if he should grow to be more important than those he is supposed to serve

Sadly, I have yet to find a worship leader who actually leads without consideration of what they will get for themselves out of the deal.
