I have actually been a worship leader when my church was pastorless during a difficult time. You don't really think about doing it. You just end up doing it. It forever changes you. At the time I was in an abusive relationship and when the church found a permanent leader, I never returned to it because my children needed me. You learn a lot about people, the church process, and your own walk with God.
If you want to lead a church, please remember the following bits of advice:
Don't get involved with the money. I refused to get near the bank and thank goodness. The money part should have nothing to do with your purpose there.
Don't measure yourself against any ruler when it comes to church size. Remember, even if all but a handful of sheep die, the farmer still has to feed the remaining sheep.
Let God be the leader. You just help get his inspiration working.
Don't try to be a star. Leave that to Jesus.
Pray!
Be open and understanding. Don't look for kudos. That's not why you should be leading.
Don't go into this green and dreamy. It's not a job. It's SERVICE. There is a difference.
Good luck.

Have you ever thought about how to become a Worship Leader and what is the job like?
Below is the video blog of one worship leader David Ware as he shares how he wrote one song.
To see the song sung in full I have placed it on the Worship Leader page,
To see where David likely graduated from, there is a Worship Leader program at the Hillsong International Leadership College, links at the top of the Hillsong Church page.

a worship leader is a big responsibility but also a glorious one. It is an interesting job once you are conversant with the worship songs and know when to put one before the other. you wouldnt want the church jumping from''then sings my soul, my savior God to thee'' to Ron Kenolly's '' he's turned my morning into dancing again''

I was a worship leader for the highschool group that was held once a week. I only did it for a couple months, but it is a good feeling. I'm not longer in a specific religion but at the time it was a nice release and you were able to sing your heart out, everyone respected you, hearing a large group of people sing along with you..it was pretty amazing.
