Chris Brown is due to be sentenced today for beating Rihanna. What do you think is a fair punishment?

Reports say Brown will likely get five years probation and 6 months of community service/labor. Is this fair? Does the punishment fit the crime?

I think a "fair" punishment would be:

1.) One year in jail

2.) 500 hours of community service. And by community service I mean picking up trash or something where he would be in a public place so the Popporatzzi's can get a hold of some pictures of him picking up garbage or cleaning toilets.

3.) I know he has to pay a little over 5,000 but I think they should make him pay more like 20,000 to the court and 80,000 to Rhianna, that will defenitly get him where it hurts....his wallet.

4.) I don't think he should be able to make any money off of music anymore because there is still going to be a fan club that looks over this incident and he will still be making money off of them, and that will only boost his confidence. If he is still allowed to make money off of his music then I think he should have to donate it ALL to a charity for battered women.

5.) I think he should be ORDERED to get at least a year's worth of consoling
for his anger issues.

6.) A restraining order for life to stay away from Rhianna and her family.

AND if you think I'm being too harsh, just look at this picture:
And the video of him on The Tyra Banks Show is shocking, what he says his that he has had experience with a woman beater himself and this is why he treats women differently, check out the video:

I think he should personally serve a prison sentence...no community service or probation..
A message should be sent out that assault is a punishable crime and whether you are a celebrity or not, a crime should serve the same sentence..famous or not...
Hopefully this would deter other people from doing likewise....and get away with light sentences....
A community service order would not be enough..If someone beat up a child you wouldnt want that person out in the community..would you? Someone who loses his "rag" so to speak...and lashes out!
He needs to experience life on the inside like anyone else would do who is not a celebrity....
I agree with the counselling and feel he should go for some kind of anger management. But to be helping children and abused women? I dont think that would be the ideal senario. I certainly wouldnt want anyone who had abused a woman to help me, say for instance I was abused myself.
I would want someone with a good nature and understanding and a good track record..if you know what I mean...

I think, he has problem with self control. So i guess, he should get at least a day in prison and must take some classes in self control/anger management. The court must say it is compulsory. He should be asked to do community work to help abused women and children. He should be doing the person to person work. Not just fund raising.
He really needs professional help to have a good healthy relationship with girls.

I think this (the punishment,f ive years probation and 6 months of community service/labor) is not enough. If this is all he can get after beating a woman, no one will learn from it. The sentence is too light. I don't know if it's because he's a celebrity or what. But this will certainly not teach him a lesson nor others.

Fair punishment? I'd like to beat him with a sock full of nickels. Maybe a brick up the side of his head.

And that's not even eye-for-an-eye punishment. For that, we'd have to find a way to scare and bully him so he fears for his life and feels worthless. But since we can't do that, anybody have some nickels?

He should be hand-and-legcuffed, and deposited at exactly the same location where he did the assault, and Rihanna should be handed a baseball bat wrapped in ensolite, and the judge should pronounce sentence by saying that to save an overburdened court-system's time, this is where CB gets punishment and a chance to launch his appeal both in one fell swoop, live on reality TV.

Except that Rihanna's been so emotionally beaten down by him, that she wants him back and wouldn't lift a finger to hurt him or punish him. Very typical victim mentality.

Otherwise, I like your idea.

Chemical castration would be a fine punishment. It will take away his obvious overdose of testosterone, AND give him the much-needed public humiliation.

Woman-beaters are lame, and should be treated as such. Any probation conviction will be seen as no conviction by many, including Chris himself.

The most appropriate punishment is to stay away from Rihanna forever and stay behind the bars for a few years.
