What do you think of the new Tween Dora the Explorer?

Well, I don't know anything about Dora, so my first reaction was, "Sexed up? She's wearing capris and a shirt that's not low-cut, she doesn't have excessive make-up on, she isn't wearing high heels... I don't see the problem."
So I googled tween Dora to see what was going on. I understand it now, and I have to agree with them. It's not so much that Dora is "too sexed up"... it's just that she's becoming too much like everybody else. She's a role-model for girls to be more than just make-up and shopping, like Bratz and Barbie and everything else. Why should they take away what makes Dora different, and turn her into this, and take her out of her exploring and put her in a school, etc.
And it's not only that. It would also take all of the kids that look up to Dora and lead them to think, "Wow, even Dora does this and looks like that." Parents who let their kids look up to Dora for all she stood for would feel backstabbed by the company changing Dora to be everything they didn't want their kids to be following.
So really, it's not so much that she's too sexed up, just that she's out of character and a bad role model.
