I currently own this phone and came from an iPhone. The major reason for my switch was because Sprint was so cheap and the Pre was the first phone to hold water against the iPhone. The Pre renders websites just as the iPhone does...as if you were on a desktop. Also the email application is on par with that of the iPhone. Now the app catalog is nowhere near that of the iPhone. But it's a new platform and will require time to build just as Apple's App Store needed time. Also, if you are a music junky then again the iPhone has the Pre beat.
Think of the Pre as the newcomer to the game that will give you the core features of the iPhone....email, internet, music, phone and apps. You'll pay for being an early adopter because it's rough around the edges. Give it a few months then give it another look.
