First of all, sprint uses CDMA while the iPhone is a GSM phone, so the iPhone is out.
In theory you can unlock any GSM phone and use it in any other GSM network.
On the other hand, I don't think that is possible with most CDMA phones as the equivalent of the GSM SIM is included in the phone.
from wikipedia: "Many CDMA-based standards do not include any such card, and the service is bound to a unique identifier contained in the handset itself."

Is it possible to jailbreak any smartphone (iPhone, crackberry, etc.) to use on Virgin Mobile USA? It's a Sprint network.
I have a strong aversion to phone contracts, but I really want a smartphone!
