iPhone or Blackberry Storm?

I would have to say my decision would hinge on how much I desired the media functionality. The iPhone completely outclasses the Storm in regards to video and music playback. The storm will have its benefits with the more tactile feedback from the keyboard, but I'd say you should definitely go iPhone if the media functionality is key to you.

It depends on what carrier you want/have. I have a Blackberry Curve and I like the Blackberry interface and functions, I would upgrade to a Storm if i could. However I do like Apple, I have an iPod Touch as well. You could try that; have an iPod Touch and then have the new Blackberry Storm and have best of both worlds!
No answer here will compare to actually getting your hands on each device and trying it out in person. People spend a lot of time on their mobile devices and the smallest annoyance to one person can be a deal breaker to another.

storm = you have to release the screen to press the next key (or so I have read in the new york times and I hope I am wrong)
then there are questions about whether you like the itunes integration. iphone can only sync to one outlook mailbox by the way. the list of intricacies can go on for pages. The competition have similar components - GPS, Bluetooth, touchscreen, etc. But somehow the overall experience just doesn't match the iPhone experience.

Definitely the Iphone. I use my husband's Iphone all the time. It is the best phone/electronics that we have ever bought. It is very helpful when we need directions, we use so many different applications like facebook and I play games on it. As much as I do not like Apple products or Macs, this is one product that I would not be able to live without.
If you want a device with a touch screen, buy an iPhone. No other touch screen device can match the experience. Try them out, try to scroll down in the contact application or in long emails, try out the web browser, try Google Maps and compare the two. The user interface alone would clearly make the iPhone the winner. But at the same time, it's undoubtedly the greatest media player available. And have a look at the App Store. Isn't it amazing how many great apps and games are available after only six months? Not to mention how easy it is to install apps, load music or movies.

The worst thing with the iPhone is its camera. It's fixed focus doesn't allow to take pictures of close objects and the camera app has no way to change the exposure. So many interesting apps (barcode scanners, Evernote, OCR etc.) don't work well because of the bad camera. However, the Storm's camera is better, but still, they could have done it better. It would be perfect if the iPhone would have a camera as good as the one in the great SonyEricsson C905.
Here in Switzerland and in other parts of Europe, we have a bigger choice of network providers and it's very common to buy unlocked phones. This makes it easier to choose the device and network that's really best for you. I think in the US, your decision may depend to a certain degree on the coverage of your network in your area and not all devices are offered by all providers.

It seems to me that most people choose the Blackberry for business use and the iPhone if they use a phone mostly for personal use.
The iPhone has the great amount of Applications from the open market behind it and that can surely make a huge difference. The big problem the iPhone has been having of late is the battery life. Other disappointments include no video. Even with that, I'd chose the iPhone!

Neither. The Storm's got some horrible reviews, especially criticism about how the SureClick⢠screen is worthless for typing (Stephen Fry has some choice words). The iPhone is also worthless for typing. On both devices, the level of control the manufacturer and carrier exercise over your experience is inexcusable.
Choose a better device. A BlackBerry Bold or a Curve 8900 would be better, if you could get it unlocked. Also look into other phones. Unlocked HTC devices (often sold as AT&T or T-Mobile brands) are excellent Windows Mobile devices, though I've got some issues with Windows Mobile these days. Either way, plenty of support for these things, especially from the XDA Developers forum, which can help you unlock several HTC devices if your carrier doesn't sell the particular model you want. I've got an unlocked and hacked T-Mobile Dash operating on AT&T right now, and it's playing nice.
I'd also consider a Nokia Series 60 device. The Eseries are awesome business phones with professional options that rival the BlackBerries, and the Nseries have some of the best cameras available in phones (only the Xperia X1 can compare to the Nokia N82). The N82 is very nice, and is only $349 on Amazon, but if you wish for 3G service (in the United States) you might want to look at the N95-3 ($329) and N95-4 ($449) (the difference is that one has 8GB of built-in storage). I own an N73-5 (an older Nseries phone) and I love it. Plus, Nokia's customer service is phenomenal.
