How can I upgrade an iPhone 3G for the new one when it's released in June? It will be within the 30 days return window.

I just bought an iPhone 3G and then I read the rumors about the new one and definitely would want one of those. Has anyone here successfully upgraded this way? i.e. First gen to second gen.

I searched online and found that the rumor of a new iPhone is not true. More information on this link:

http://www.bitterwallet.com/its-official-no-new-iphone-says-carphone-warehouse/11871

The specs, if there were a new iPhone being made:
(for the site where I got this from, see below)
* 32GB and 16GB storage (up from the current 16GB and 8GB models)
* $199 and $299 price points to be maintained
* 3.2-megapixel camera (up from the current 2-megapixel camera)
* Video-recording and editing capabilities
* Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
* Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
* OLED screen
* 1.5 times the battery life of the current models
* Double the RAM and processing power
* Built-in FM transmitter
* Apple logo on back will glow
* Rubber-tread backing
* Sleeker design
* Built-in compass
* The camera, GPS, compass and Google map combined will identify photo and inform about photo locations
* Turn-by-turn directions

What may be the reason for this rumor, is either someone from the company said something that leaked out or there's a new phone coming out called the Palm Pre that may "upstage" the Apple iPhone. so titles stating this may have been miss read. More info. on that phone is listed below.

After reading the article, I come away with the sense that there may be truth to the rumor. It gives me the sense that you can't trust the salespeople. I'll have to wait foe the possible announcement anyway and if it comes before my deadline, I'll try to trade up. What I'm looking for is someone who has traded up like this last time there was a hardware upgrade.

This will depend on the deal that apple makes with AT&T. I doubt anyone but a few people at each company know at this point. You might be better off returning it, and buying the new one. If you bought it somewhere other than an apple store, you might be able to make an exchange to a different phone, and then to the new iphone. That is, if in fact, apple does announce a new iphone.
