Sadly you can't make it work with Verizon. Sprint operates a network with CDMA (Code division multiple access) technology and Verizon use GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) technology.
The two are completely different and thus any phone made by Sprint or Verizon won't work on the others network.

Can I make The Samsung Instinct usable for Verizon?
i recently picked up a buddies samsung instinct and i am a verizon carrier i want to know how i can make it usable on verizon and break the sprint lock

Actually i hate to break it to you, they both use CDMA.

Ah so they do! I don't know how I missed that.. Regardless, he still can't unlock a CDMA phone without re-flashing it and losing all the phones features except for basic functions like text and calling. And I've yet to see anyone re-flash the Instinct to any other network.
