I searched online and found that the rumor of a new iPhone is not true. More information on this link:

The specs, if there were a new iPhone being made:

* Apple logo on back will glow

* The camera, GPS, compass and Google map combined will identify photo and inform about photo locations
* Turn-by-turn directions

What may be the reason for this rumor, is either someone from the company said something that leaked out or there's a new phone coming out called the Palm Pre that may "upstage" the Apple iPhone. so titles stating this may have been miss read. More info. on that phone is listed below.
