Also, T-Mobile has a "soft cap" on the amount of data you can download at 3G speeds of 1GB which is pretty flimsy if you are wanting to use your phone as a modem to a PC. It still might be worth doing as an emergency measure, but if you are used to a broadband connection it will be pretty painful after you go over that limit.

While the above responder is correct that exact directions are impossible to provide without the actual phone model, I figured I should point out that as far as I was able to tell in researching this as a general topic that T-Mobile does not officially support this feature on any phones I could find. Also, T-Mobile has a "soft cap" on the amount of data you can download at 3G speeds of 1GB which is pretty flimsy if you are wanting to use your phone as a modem to a PC. It still might be worth doing as an emergency measure, but if you are used to a broadband connection it will be pretty painful after you go over that limit.
