Well i gleaned this off from some/ somewhat authoritative sites and blogs and this is what they had to say,i quote.
"If your total data usage in any billing cycle is more than 1GB, your data throughput for the remainder of that cycle may be reduced to 50 kbps or less. Your data session, plan, or service may be suspended, terminated, or restricted for significant roaming or if you use your service in a way that interferes with our network or ability to provide quality service to other users. Some devices require specific data plans; if you do not have the right plan for your device, you may not be able to use data services. Some downloads, such as movies, music, and games, not included. Domestic use only."
The above is from the fine print at their official detail page(see link).
But basically their marketing material talks about a $25 "unlimited" data plan ,but after reading the foregoing you can see quite clearly there is a catch, and considering that 1GB nowadays is not a lot of bandwidth I would advise you to read between the lines before you make up your mind, because it is not as "unlimited" as its touted to be. Find some resourceful links below. I hope you find them helpful and happy holidays.

I imagine alot of order systems that the independent (and even retail) T-Mobile locations wouldn't even have it as an option.

Does T-Mobile offer an unlimited "Data Only"(no calls) package for the G1?
Hello,
I'm really interested in getting the T-Mobile G1(since the iPhone is unfortunately overpriced(per month), no offense to all the iPhone owners out there!) and was wondering if T-Mobile offers a "Data Only" package and if so, how much is that package? I remember when I use to own a Sidekick 2, they offered a data only package($30/m plus tax) for unlimited data, not sure if this has changed or not.
Thanks in advance!

The data package is considered separate to the voice plan. The unlimited data and texts package is 34.99, whereas unlimited data and 400 texts is 24.99.

Ah, sorry about that mistake... I've found a report of one person complaining that T-Mobile forced them to get a voice plan in addition to a data plan.

As an individual that worked selling cell phones for almost 2 years, I have never heard of any phone provider offering a "data only" plan. Your best bet will probably be to go with the smallest voice plan that they wil give you, and then tack on the additional data. I imagine alot of order systems that the independent (and even retail) T-Mobile locations wouldn't even have it as an option.
