May not be the best person to answer since I've got a completely different phone thing going on (and I'm not sure what phone you have exactly), but I did see a forum that talked a bit about shutting autocorrect down.
Does it underline and highlight words in blue when you type something they think is wrong? The forum ppl were talking about selecting that word and you'll have the option of correcting the word and having Windows memorize it, or disabling autocorrect altogether.

Autocorrect on windows mobile phone
How do I turn off the autocorrect option in text messages on my windows mobile based smartphone from verizon? It's so annoying because I type in both English and Spanish, and it corrects words like "casa" to be "casablanca". UGH!!
