In early 2009, Penn was offered the position of Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison in the Obama administration, which he accepted. This necessitated his character Lawrence Kutner being written out of the TV series House by way of Kutner's suicide.

You can google it but it does appear he has done just that.

LOL, looking for more sources and found 100s of news items. This appeared in all on-line news sources during the last hour, but seems that EW broke the story.

Be careful as the news stories contain HUGE SPOILER about what happened on HouseMD :)

sounds like an April Fools' Day joke, and it could totally be the new Harold & Kumar movie: 'Harold & Kumar Take the White House' but it is true :)
