No way is she telling the truth - she is completely trying to save her image.
Think of all of the politician's wives who tried to save face and stand by their husbands, and we *knew* they were just trying to salvage their dignity - and in the case of women like Hillary Clinton - trying to frame their own political careers.
The man is out squiring tramp aft- I mean, woman after woman around town very quickly after the marriage, and there were a number of photographs of him with women before their divorce. The man was stepping out, and she knew it - at some point, she knew it.

But can she say that now?
Can she say that on television for her kids to see later?
Can she say that and then not have to explain why she stayed with him as long as she did?
And what would her image be if she didn't deny everything? She'd be the bitter shrew who attacked him on television. Women in her position - the ones who sell their souls for fame - get cornered into this position.
Poor Kate. I'm sure she'll be crying her way all the way to the bank and a memoir over this. I hope this is what she wanted.

One of the things that people who have been famous for a long time often say is that they don't read their own press. I think that between the books, the speaking gigs, the notoriety and the paparazzi that the family believes the marketing around them.
When the family started to acknowledge the media and allow it to affect them, their perceptions of public image changed. Like _anyone_ in the public eye or with a following of any sort, what they say and do must be taken with a grain of salt. These people become part of the machine that promotes them and helps them meet their goals.

I believe that she said that to Jon and just doesn't want to fess up so she uses a vague answer instead.

I think that everyone at the Jon and Kate camp has become a little too big for their own good. Yes I think Kate was being honest, but she certainly wasn't answering questions as fully as possible. In particular Meredith asked her whether Jon's story that last October Kate said "I am done" was true. Kate said something along the lines of they each have their own perspective on things and she can't answer the question because she wants to protect her children. I believe that she said that to Jon and just doesn't want to fess up so she uses a vague answer instead.
