Those who are able to will probably gather outside the actual venue just to be close. They will not all get tickets and there will be no stopping a gathering of this magnitude. The city will just have to face it and accomodate the crowds with TV's, Bathrooms, security patrols, etc. This is an EVENT that won't be ignored - Michael Jackson is too well loved and adored. He ranks right at the top with Elvis, Princess Diana, JFK and Obama. There is such a strong connection that people feel the need to pay homage and they will.

If this is important to you, I suggest seeing if anyone is having a memorial gathering for Michael Jackson in your area. If you feel you're able, you may want to set up such an event yourself, or have friends over for the actual service. It is going to be streamed on the Web from various sites.

There will be a satellite event in the Nokia Theatre across the street next to staples centre. I am sure there will be alot of live streams during the memorial service such as http://michaeljacksonfuneral.biz/2009/07/michael-jacksons-funeral-live-coverage/
