Michael Jackson's father Joseph Jackson is a descendent of African slaves, German and Chocktaw Indians. Michael's mother, Katherine Jackson, is a descendent of the Cherokee Indian's African slaves. In southern states, there were both runaway slaves being accepted and hidden in Indian reservations, as well as some slaves left to the Cherokees for various reasons, or traded, the main reason being the unmanageability of the slave. Being that the lineage of the African slaves is not exactly known, it would be hard to break down exact percentages pertaining to Michael Jackson's family history.
