What's the easiest way to move my cats from the east coast to the west?

I'm planning on moving from Philadelphia to San Francisco late next year. Has anyone flown their pets cross country? How stressful is it for the animals?

It's going to be stressful for them regardless of how you do it. You might want to consult your vet about it.

I haven't had cats flown, but I have had show dogs flown cross-country. Either is going to be stressful. But the thing about the flight is that it will be over much faster.

As mentioned, it's going to be stressful. You can help them feel more comfortable by putting a favorite toy, or something of yours in their carrier. You could also ask your vet for a mild sedative to put your pet at ease during the flight.
