Spraying Static Guard on your couch or using a light dusting of baking soda, and then sweeping the fur away with a vacuum may help you. If that does not work, try wiping the fur away with a dryer sheet.

get rid of the cat! Actually tape is the best thing to use, what I used to do what roll the tape around my hand, with the sticky side out, and pat the couch, hair comes off great, then a quick vacuum and spray of febreeze and you are good to go.

Vacuum is the way to go. If that isn't applicable, a damp sponge or rag.

Wear a rubber glove (the kind you use to wash dishes) on your hand and rub your hand over your furniture. All the hair will stick to it and can be peeled off and thrown away, and the glove can be used for another day.

Try it, you will be amazed.

A vacuum followed by a lint roller really works well.

Lint rollers are basically a roller that has tape on it, and the tape can be removed to reveal a newer, more adhesive side.

I gotta link the wikipedia article on lint rollers, just because I can't believe it exists :)

This is a method that I developed for getting dog hair off my chairs and such, so it might not work as well. Get one of the lint rollers designed to get lint off clothes and roll that along the couch. I find that it helps if you get the roller wet and then let it dry first.
