Why import used cars for Japan?

Why it is a good idea to import used cars from Japan especially in this recession? It is because Japanese used cars have low mileage, have good condition and cost about 30% less.

I don't agree with it, but if people will buy them then why not. However, I'm just as bad. I'd like to buy American, but I bought an Aveo which is 95% Korean. It's bascially a Daewoo with a Chevy bow tie on the grill.
