What are some farm-worthy pickup trucks that get decent gas mileage?

The F-350 gets horrible gas mileage, but try hauling a load of feed in a Prius or a Smart car sometime. Can I get mileage and farm performance?

The gas mileage of pickup truck is fairly low. For comparison tables check out http://www.mpgomatic.com/2009/01/21/truck-gas-mileage/. The tables there do not include large pickups such as the F-350 however.

There are other articles on that site for specific trucks, such as:
Silverado - about 20 mpg, http://www.mpgomatic.com/2007/09/26/chevy-silverado-gas-mileage/
Sierra - 15-20 mpg, http://www.mpgomatic.com/2007/12/03/gmc-sierra-gas-mileage/

Although it's hard to locate exact figures for F-350 fuel efficiency, these seem to be in the high teens (~17 mpg) so if the Silverado is big enough, it should improve your fuel efficiency by up to 20%.

Anything made by toyota or honda would get great gas mileage for you as they are the leading companies in this market.

here is the estimates on the trucks they put out.

Toyota Tacoma - AVG MPG 20 City 26 Highway - Starting out at 15,170

Honda Ridgeline - AVG MPG 15 City 20 Highway - Starting at 28,450

Obviously in comparison the Tacoma looks like the better bang for the buck but consider towing capacity and other factors the ridgeline just outdoes the Tacoma.

Going based on Pricing and Saving on MPG I would definitley go with the Tacoma. If you want reliability better towing capacity go with the Ridgeline.

I hope I have saved you some time and energy on this one and you can make a better decision now.

+1 On the Tacoma , but personally I would go with the Ridgeline.
(Just my personal taste)

I was going to post an answer, but instead of just posting like I usually do, I decided to read what had already been written, and I saw that there was no point, because what this person has written is essentially what I would have.

The only thing I'd add would be to see if in your area it makes economic sense to convert to propane.

Try the 2010 Honda Ridgeline - 16-22mpg rating. Can haul up to 1546lbs payload capicity and can tow around 5,000 lbs. Comfortable enough to drive every day yet buff enough to handle more of the farm chores.
