I spent four days with Gran Turismo last July. It is one of the most beautiful cars on the road today and in typical Italian fashion, the interior is exquisite. The exhaust note is not exceptionally loud but it has a great tone. It's throaty builds to a wonderful crescendo as you approach red-line. The suspension is well tuned and has a decent ride but still provides excellent handling. As the name implies this is a grand tourer rather than an all-out sports car. It's fast but won't blow you away. Check out the full review I wrote at Autoblog. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/30/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-maserati-granturismo-w-video/

Has anyone driven the Maserati Gran Turismo or Gran Turismo S? What were your impressions?
I saw one of these cars the other day for the first time and felt that it was perhaps the most beautiful car I've ever seen. It is the first car I've been excited about since the BMW 850CSi (and if you look at the back, it kind of looks similar). In case I find a bag of money, I'd like to know more about the vehicle.
Please, I only want answers from someone who has driven one, unless you have special insight (e.g. "My dad works for Maserati and the cars are actually rebodied Kia Spectras"). Feel free to compare it to any car from a Ferrari to a Saab or if you're Jason, to a Tesla Roadster. =)
Special kudos to anyone that can compare the GT and GTS.

Yes, I've driven the Maserati Gran Turismo and it is certainly a fabulous car to drive! I know someone who has one, and they love it, so much that I've been fortunate to give it a try. I would highly recommend giving it a spin. I like the smoothness of the ride in comparison to other sports cars. I found it smoother and more luxurious than the BMW M3, Ferrari 360, or Lamborghini Gallardo. What I really liked about the car was the great feeling you get when you step on the pedal, it's very exciting and invigorating. The metallic speedometer is also a step up. Also, the pedals on the steering wheel are cool. Highly recommended car if you can afford it! Here are some specs on the Maserati GranTurismo

Thanks, this is great feedback. Call me a poser, but the smell of engine fumes, having my butt 1 inch off the ground, and the engine heat are not as important to me as a comfortable, quiet coupe that can assassinate tarmac when necessary. The GT seems like the perfect car.

Disappointing to hear - my understanding was that the Quatroporte was pretty darn reliable. Hope this was an isolated incident.
