I would still put my money on Ferrari, they have been racing since 1929, with their own cars since 1948. They have a history of moving their racing technology into their road cars. They are also purists, their cars are built to reward the expert driver. The Japanese, especially Honda with their first two generations of the NSX, make their cars so perfect that they are almost boring to drive (this is also why Porsche sells their GT series cars, even better performing cars but only at the hands of a very skilled driver).

It depends on what you want out of it. The Japanese could make a car that beats spec by spec the best that Ferrari or Lamborghini cab produce, but it would still make your blood boil if you were driving one of these Japanese built monsters and nobody would recognize it as a product superior than anything you could find in Italy.
