The "recall" didn't pay out any money, they would have just repaired the vehicle at no cost. Not sure if you could get any additional money for the vehicle replacement out of them. Chances are the litigation would cost you more than the additional funds you might get, but small claims court could be a good try. Be sure to have good documentation and represent yourself.

In April 2009, General Motors recalled 1.5 million vehicles due to a manufacturing defect that they say may cause engine fires. According to the official press release, oil may run under the heat shield and ignite a small fire that may spread and increase the risk of an engine compartment fire. General Motors will repair the defect in the recalled vehicles at no charge.1
