This question has been up here a long time. I've researched it a couple of times, but I never answered because I felt I couldn't "actually" answer the question. But apparently nobody else can. So I'm going to give an explaination of why I don't think it can be answered.
The problem is I can't find any evidence that the "rental companies" buy the cars. In all the cases I can fine the individual franchise locations buy the cars. So "Rank and Volume" is impossible to find. In addition, each car is the individual property of one individual franchise. Part of the agreement is that you have to own a certain number and be responsible for the maintenance on them.
Now some companies "feature" certain brands of vehicles. But again I couldn't fine any that didn't buy some GM vehicles that doesn't mean that they are available at all locations tho. So unless you want a list of all rental companies which would do you little good I got nothing.
Good Luck!

Lots of google searches. Read through several "franchise" agreements.

• Are you saying that rental companies lease from the manufacturer and the manufacturer resales the vehicle after the lease?
