Pontiac is already planning to eliminate half their cars. Solstice is gone. This is a dead brand and they gave it their best shot but Lutz did nothing to bring it back and their products are horrid across the board. I see it going first.
Saturn is not going anywhere although many people feel it should. Their brand is a mystery to me since they have significantly improved their products - esp. their SUVs. They are good cars, so you can only point to their failure as branding issue. Can they solve that? With GM hurting, I don't know. I see it going away in 3 years.
Buick should have gone away first. They put out really progressive products, but nobody wants them. They should go away but they won't. I mean they have Tiger, right?
Saab is going to be sold.
Nobody but a Saudi group wants to buy Hummer and I'm sure they will wait it out until it's a fire sale.
GMC products are duplicates of Chevy. They can justify the buyer profile differences all they want - but they are the same trucks as Chevy. They should go away, but they won't.
Overall, we will not see any brands die in the next couple of years (although Buick, Hummer, and Pontiac should)... rather, we will see significant reductions in product lineups, longer model cycles, and slow deaths. I would like to see them hang tough with Saturn. It's their best shot outside of Chevy to increase market share.
