Not much, GM can't embrace a full service model, they will not stop building cars for the time being. It would also be politically impossible for GM to sell their brands to the Chinese, like they did with their full PC lineup, now owned by Lenovo.
What is killing GM is not market share, it is that they can't build cars that can compete with what the foreign makers are offering. Worse, foreign car makers are building their cars here in the states and still make a profit. If they can do it, why can't GM?
BTW, IBM is at $112 billion as of today. Just because their market cap went up doesn't make it a healthier company, all it means is that it is bigger.

http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f12/what-gm-can-learn-ibm-76005/
1. IBM scientist and engineers and Gerstner grasped the power of the internet sooner than others.
2. Gerstner transformed IBM from product driven to service driven company. Investors liked Gerstner's move. Market cap swelled from $29 billion to $148 billion.
3. IBM realized it took more than cutbacks to create market share.
4. GM needs to turn itself around in years.

• IBM management would reduce GM debt by 50 percent immediately, move the company into a profit model, and compete against foreign competition. Good point.

Under general principles, a bloody round of layoffs and factory closings, followed by a review of the product lineup to propose cutting down to a few products that GM can build at a profit. Maybe getting a non-auto executive to do this may work, since he would not have the extra baggage of many years of contacts and compromised deals in Detroit.
