You know most 2009 cars are released the year before. So I think you might be asking what will be cool for 2010 models. Which usually start being available in Q4 of 2009.
I think the one I'm looking forward to the most is the completely chargeable Toyota Prius. So to be a little more similar to the Tesla where you have to charge the car every night. The 2010 Prius is suppose to have a charger that you can use to charge your car at night. But it will still have a gas engine assist.
I'm not sure what else other people are looking forward to.

Plugin hybrids are expected to exceed the 100 mpg barieer. Will the increased cost for the hybrid justify the higher mpg? What is the break even point in gasoline consumption, assuming a 80 mile per day commute.
