I have this issue in my van...fortunately I don't drive it very often. Hopefully your window motor isn't totally shot...if it is then you will need to replace it to get the window up. If it will raise the window a bit, then get enough of the window out of the window slot in the car door to grab onto it and then you can "assist" the motor to get the window closed.
If not then you will need to replace the motor, which if you are at all handy with cars is doable. The hardest part typically is to getting the door panel off. Here's a link:
Also, make sure to disconnect the battery and/or the fuse for the window motors prior to replacing the motor. Use an after-market or rebuilt motor if money is an obect.

Well, this is just my guess from looking at the inside of a car door a few times, but I'm guessing that part of the mechanism that pushes and pulls the door broke. It's probably not a big deal. I could be wrong though, because my specialty is computers, not cars.
If it is an electric window, then you may need a new motor. Your best bet would be to take your car to the mechanic unless you are experienced on working on cars or if you don't care if you damage your car while you "learn" how to take your door panel off then I highly recommend taking it in for service.
Just in case you were wondering, yes I didn't know how to take the door panel off of my car door when my window motor broke, but that didn't stop me because I'm a dumbass and tore into it anyways. Now I can replace window motors in cars without breaking anything...
I must fail at least once in order to succeed sometimes. Anyways, a window motor is about $50 from autozone and a door panel from the junk yard is $100 and the mechanic would've cost $75 in my case.
