While driving around 40mph takes your hand off the wheel and apply firm pressure to the brake to see if the car pulls to the left or right. Do this with no traffic though.
Accelerate from a stop with gas pedal to the floor and make sure it changes gears smoothly.
Check for turning radius in a parking lot. This might surprise you.
