Worst idea ever.

Why? Because this would actually eliminate thousands of jobs. That trumps one of the reasons right there.

It may reduce the cost of moving cargo, but GM has proven that even with lots of brands and many employees, they still can't get the job done.

They need a reform from someone in charge who can be accountable and likes the product. They have been producing lots of poorly made products for years and have generated their own reputation based on that.

They are capable of fixing it, but they need to do it the hard way, and so far they haven't done a good job of that.

They can't turn a profit in 4 years, but they can slow their fall, and begin the process of turning around.

Jobs are the result of increase demand for product. Businesses want cheap means to move cargo and they move alot of cargo. GM strength is the truck line. You admit that the present business model will fail. So only a working business model will save them. What is the working business model?
