Too soon to tell. The lose and decrease revenues were probably already on the books before the plan started going into affect.

They are here in my town. I'm not sure if that is the same all over but I'm guessing it probably is.

How are the rental business responding to GM?
They keep cars for such a short time period it's doubtful they even care. Actually they may be taking advantage of the lower interest rates and buying replacements now.(Typically a rental is only kept 2 years.)

Man you just pile on the questions. I think that it's possible; however, it depends on how much relief they get from pensions and healthcare plans which are really bloated.

And even though I don't know the exact way the determine it "consumer confidence" will play a HUGE role. If they can't get people to believe they are a solid company again game over. If they can I think they could turn a profit by 2012 maybe even earlier.

Thanks for getting into the question in more detail. The pensions and healthcare are the critical hurdles. If half the car cost is pension and healthcare expenditures, GM will not be profitable by 2012. GM has to significantly reduce the retirement benefit costs to survive or find a new emerge car market, such as, China, to manufacture and sell more vehicles.
