How expensive is to ship a large sedan or a minivan from Los Angeles to Southern Spain or Portugal?

I need some leads to companies that ship cars from Los Angeles, CA to Europe. Ports of Southern Spain or Southern Portugal in particular. I'd like to know the process, the price and how long it takes for a car to arrive there? What do you need in order to pick it up when it arrives there?

The cost to ship a car overseas varies based on the size of the car, operating condition and destination. Cars located closer to shipping terminals cost less.

Typical costs:

* Shipping a car from the US to Europe starts around $750 for a compact and runs up to around $2,000 for a full-sized SUV.
* Transporting a standard-sized car from the US to Australia costs about $2,950. If household items are to be shipped in a container along with the vehicle the price runs around $3,200 for a 20-foot container that can handle a car plus a few small items or around $4,600 for a 40-foot container that holds 47,500 pounds.
* If ocean travel to Europe is planned, the Queen Elizabeth 2 accepts vehicles as accompanied baggage beginning at $3,850, double occupancy

Typically, shipping a car from the US to Europe starts around $750 for a compact and runs up to around $2,000 for a full-sized SUV, so for a sedan it would probably be a little more than $750, unfortunately this does not cover the hidden fees or additional fees.

The best place to start to figure out the cost and the procedure will be with the moving companies themselves. http://www.intlmovers.com/ is a good site to start and to help with finding international movers that help you plan your international move, from packing, to shipping, to relocating your entire family.

However, you should also keep in mind that unless you are a diplomat or military person with special import status, you will very likely not be allowed to bring a car into the host country with you. In countries that will allow you to import a vehicle, you may face significant costs for shipping, modifying the vehicle to meet local standards and customs duties. If you still wish to give it a try, begin with the host country’s Embassy to learn about import restrictions. You can locate various foreign embassies’ home pages at http://embassy.org/
