Difficult to do. 10 years between the two cars: ETX in 1985, EV1 in 1996. AC-based propulsion in the ETX with power coming from Lead-Acid batteries and DC-powered motor from a NiMH battery in the EV. The EV could reach over 100 miles with that powerpack. Electronics difference? Gee - Darlington paired transistors was all they had for high-current switching in the early 80s. In 1996 direct current was a lot easier to modulate and more efficient (no inverter losses when converting from DC to AC as it was necessary in the ETX-I.) Looking back the ETX and EV technologies were different in a way just like the difference between day and night. I wished it would be the same when comparing the EV1 with the 2011 Volt.
