I've sold Honda automobiles in Manchester, NH. The factory issued warranties began on the date of purchase, however the mileage on a new car varied some had as few as 7 miles when we the dealer received them some had as many as 100 miles on them before they were sold, all had some miles on them. A 3yr/30 thousand mile warranty would go like this, the 3yr part would begin on the moment the purchase and sales agreement was signed (delivered to the customer), the 30,000 miles would begin on the date of manufacture. If you purchased a car with 43.2 miles on it you would be under the factory warranty for the remaining 29,956.8 miles on the warranty.

The manufacturers warranty is transferable so when you buy a used car and it is still under warranty then it starts when the car was initially bought. you do have the option if the car is out of it's original warranty to buy an extended warrant. there are a number of companies that deal with extended warranties!
