Hard Candy
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 25 Minutes
Ready In: 45 Minutes
Servings: 36
"An easy recipe for hard candy. The hardest part is waiting for the sugar to reach the proper temperature. Be patient and use a candy thermometer for perfect candy. This recipe can easily be adjusted by using different flavored extracts and food colorings."
Ingredients:
3 3/4 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
1 cup water
1 tablespoon orange, or other flavored ( add whatever flavor you prefer)
extract
1/2 teaspoon food coloring (optional)
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar for dusting
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, stir together the white sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil. Without stirring, heat to 300 to 310 degrees F (149 to 154 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms hard, brittle threads.
2. Remove from heat and stir in flavored extract and food coloring, if desired. Pour onto a greased cookie sheet, and dust the top with confectioners' sugar. Let cool, and break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Tips on making a homemade jolly rancher-like candy?
I have the recipe in mind that I want to use, but I'm looking for some pointers on making candy in general. Brand of a good candy thermometer, candy temperature techniques, molds, etc. Any pointers are welcome.

This recipe come from Allrecipes.com. I use to make a hard candy years ago and add the cinnamon oil to it and it tasted like the fire stick candy. Use this recipe and add the flavors you like, I bet it will turn out good. I would wrap each piece in wax paper so they don't stick together. Good luck and enjoy! ...Quote...

I mentioned I had a recipe already but was looking for some pointers. You just pasted in a recipe and did not add in any two sense.
