Can someone on antidepressants take ibuprofen?
Are there any unwanted side effects, or does it not even matter?

Hello Beta14chan,
When on certain antidepressants such as SSRI (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) taking ibuprofen can cause bleeding or bruising. Some of these antidepressants that can cause interactions when taken along with ibuprofen include citalopram otherwise known as Celexa and paroxetine (Paxil). Since there are known side effects from taking ibuprofen along with some antidepressants, it is advisable that you consult with your doctor when prescribed ibuprofen. Mention all the drugs that you already taking and find out what kind of interactions exist. Only a doctor can tell you whether or not it is safe to take ibuprofen with your other medications. However, the decision also depends on you, whether you are willing to take on the risks associated with using ibuprofen and SSRI antidepressants. Drug interactions or side effects can sometimes be fatal or very serious so ultimately you have to make up your mind after getting your doctor’s advice.
