Red Pandas, also called the Firefox or Lesser Panda, CANNOT be kept as pets.
Not only is the Red Panda an endangered species, but also a wild animal that you simply cannot keep as a pet.
As an endangered species, listed as an Appendex I species by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species), even zoos face difficulty in obtaining a permit to keep one.

The easiest solution might be to move to a city where the zoo keeps them. I know I have seen them in zoos but don't remember where and it was a long time ago anyway. Your local zoo should have the resources to tell you where the nearest zoo with red pandas is. Having located the zoo, volunteer to help. Zoos always have volunteer programs of one sort or another and you will be able to have closer contact with the animals.
But if you really want them as near as pets as possible, you will have to become a licensed endangered animal breeder. There are such people. You need to be trained, and you need Federal and State licenses, and you need to build a facility and get it licensed as well. It will cost a lot of money and time but eventually you should be able to keep and breed the animals.
Be advised that there is not a lot of good information readily accessible on line because the subject can be controversial and commercial. You will need to consult colleges, veterinarian groups, and/or zoo organizations for help in acquiring the necessary training.

I would suggest getting a bunny instead of a red panda, but I recently heard that they're wild and endangered list too!

Red Panda's don't vote
That was a very well presented case of why they should not be kept as pets however I believe the "simply cannot keep as a pet" part may not be accurate. We all agree they should not be, but the video clearly shows pet red pandas, thus this answer may not be factual. No offense intended. I still think it's best answer.
