Can I lose weight by cooking hamburgers in the oven?

Does baking burgers reduce grease? How much can I expect to lose by cooking red-meat food this way?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

Losing weight is entirely dependent on you burning more calories in a day than you consume. For every 3,000 calories you burn more than you consume you should lose about a pound of weight. Baking burgers can be a better way to cook them especially if you are currently cooking them in oil as that will just add fat. Baking the burger with a drain pan underneath should help the fat to escape the edible portion of the meat and can reduce your caloric intake by quite a bit. A typical baked burger runs about 270 calories where a fried burger usually runs about 320.

The size of the hamburger patty as well as the amount of fat in the burger will also contribute to the amount of calories. If you change the meat grade from 20% fat to 5% fat you will reduce the calories significantly. You can also choose to make burger patties out of lower calorie meats such as ground turkey, pork, or chicken.

it really doesn't matter where or how you cook a burger, with a few exceptions like on a grill for instance, which will allow the majority of the fat drippings to fall away from the meat, rather than constantly soaking or self basting in it, however this may attribute to some flavor loss with certain meats.. The only real way to limit your weight gain is to start with extra lean meats to begin with, regardless of how you cook them, and limit your intake to not eat more than you need to merely for the sake of enjoying it.... so make it a small portioned meal, enough for your nutritional needs rather than your personal satisfaction... well balanced of course..... and excersize regularly!
