Some games are free and others aren't. However, you will need Wi-Fi internet access, and an iTunes account to do so. To purchase a game directly from your iPod Touch, go to the App Store icon from your Home screen. Once it had finished loading, touch the tab that says "Top Free". Then, choose the free app or game that you want and touch it. Once you have touched the app or game of your choice, press the button that says "FREE". Once you have, it will change to a button that says "INSTALL". Touch it, then type your iTunes password. Then your game will install. It may take some time, so be patient. Once it has finished installing, touch it, and enjoy your free game!

There are tons of free games, I just got my iPod Touch not too long ago and have a bunch of games that I got for free. Simple classic games like checkers, chess, connect 4, as well as new games specifically made for the iPod Touch/iPhone like "Unblock me" and "Doodle Jump" which is one of the most popular free games on there.
