Hey there, I live on Vancouver Isle and have spent a few years in Victoria. What I would suggest is head just north of town to Goldstream Provincial Park. It's about 30 minutes from Downtown (without crazy traffic)

Goldstream is probably your best bet if you want easy access to Victoria city proper, there are probably a couple of campsites on the Saanich Penninsula as well that would give you access. But look around, Sooke and Jordan River are beautiful as well, and more suited for camping, north on the Island, Lake Cowichan, Qualicum Beach and further are also great places for camping.
