2. RED SCARLET -coming soon -- $3,000
http://i39.tinypic.com/w1ck06.gif
RED, the company whose 4K-capable 'RED One' camera — that's 4,096 by 2,160 pixels — became one of the most lusted after cameras of recent memory last year, has announced the 'Scarlet,' a hand-held Flash-memory based camcorder capable of a remarkable 3K resolution at 120 frames per second. They've stated they intend for it to sell for under $3,000. That means the relatively small Scarlet — pictured above both naked and with lots of accessories bolted on — will be capable of shoot video worthy of projection in digital cinemas, which mostly top out at around 4K these days (although typically only at 24FPS).

What is the best HD video camera with accessories for under $8000?
Extra consideration for detailed responses, and the places to purchase the camera. Essentially looking for a high quality consumer grade or higher camera, possibly to handle a 35mm lens adapter. Not looking for a small little Flip or something dinky. Professional grade/quality. Thanks!

I would really prefer to have a TRUE HD camera. The Sony HDR-FX1 shoots on DV tapes with a sort of fake HD capability. Thanks for the answer though!

Check out the Panasonic AG-HVX200A. It shoots in variable definitions ranging from 1080i to 720p. It gets rave reviews, is feature packed, and is a pretty good value. Definitely worth considering, here's the link: http://www.proviewdigital.com/AGHVX200A.html

Although a camera from Red is not yet in your price range, Red Digital Cinema is revolutionizing the camera industry. The only camera they currently offer is the Red One which is 17,500$, but soon they should have a lower end camera that is just what you are looking for. Keep an eye on www.red.com.
