Check out the Panasonic HDC-SD9. I particularly like that is it SD card based. Some people criticize the sharpness compared to others but I feel the colors are so much richer with 3 CCDs .It ranks near the top of camcorders in the ~$1000 range.

It's tough to judge HD videos online as you know they have lost something in translation.
This one really shows off what it can do. Paragliding was an excellent choice.

Is there a 3 CCD prosumer camcorder with three 1920x1080 sensors or are the 1440x1080 sensors on the Canon XHA1 the best out there?
I know that some of the new consumer camcorders do 1920x1080 output but don't have 3 CCD's. This reduces the effective resolution of the image because of the filtering required. I'm looking for the maximum sharpness available but an not ready to go for a RED yet. Links to sample video clips would be highly appreciated.
