Can you use multiple webcams on a single computer in order to produce a video show?

I've been searching the Internet for the last few days, and I can't seem to find anything that describes a solution.

I want to produce a web show with webcams. I have a single computer, and 4 different webcams.

1) Is this possible?
2) What are the easiest capture programs to work with? (Free if possible)
3) Are there any pieces of hardware that are necessary in order to make this happen?

Yes, it is possible to use multiple webcams, but be warned - it's a real big headache!
