Injuries to Sarich, Phaneuf and Regehr depleted their defense and Calgary lost their first playoff series.
The best team right now in the NHL would have to be the Detroit Red Wings, they have gone nine straight years with over 100 points and have won the Stanley cup four times since 1997.

Not this year unfortunately, they had a good team two lines of top forwards including Jerome Iginla, Mike Cammelleri, Todd Bertuzzi, Olli Jokinen and Daymond Lankow. They had a defense that not many teams could match with Dion Phaneuf, Robyn Regehr, Cory Sarich and Adrien Aucoin and one of the best goalies in the league Miikka Kiprusoff unfortunately they faded down the stretch and deadline pickup Jokinen failed to score in the final few weeks of the season. Injuries to Sarich, Phaneuf and Regehr depleted their defense and Calgary lost their first playoff series.
